About this property

Welcome to Northern Lights Lodge

Northern Lights Lodge offers understated lodging set along the riverside in Stowe, Vermont, just under 3 miles from the local ski slopes. The property features both indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, and a sauna, providing guests with low-key relaxation options after a day outdoors. Some rooms also come equipped with kitchens, adding convenience for longer stays or family groups.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast served daily, which tends to be simple and made-to-order, creating a casual start to the day. Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and free parking add to the practical amenities. The hotel is family-friendly but does not accommodate pets or offer an airport shuttle, so independent transportation is recommended. Recent guest comments highlight the welcoming staff and cozy common areas, while noting that some rooms and furnishings show their age and lack modern tech features like streaming-capable TVs.

Its location near the Stowe Recreation Path and access to a winter shuttle to local ski resorts make it a convenient base for outdoor enthusiasts. Nearby attractions include Stowe Mountain Resort, Mount Mansfield, and Smugglers' Notch State Park Campground, each offering a variety of seasonal activities. The lodge’s position also puts it within reasonable distance of Burlington and Plattsburgh International Airports by car.

The overall atmosphere is relaxed and modest, appealing to visitors seeking reasonably priced accommodations close to Stowe’s recreational highlights. While some travelers appreciate the lodge’s charm and value, others mention that certain aspects like outdated décor and basic room amenities reflect its budget positioning. Prospective guests valuing simple comfort and proximity to outdoor activities may find Northern Lights Lodge a practical choice.

Excellent hotel for those wanting to ski at Stowe and also explore the surrounding areas! They had the friendliest staff who couldn’t have been more accommodating. The simple, made-to-order breakfast was perfect in an area where most cafes/brunch spots have wait times during the holidays.

Very nice spot directly on the shuttle route to the mountain. The rooms are big, 24/7 free coffee, and there is a nice pool and hot tub. Breakfast is almost adequate but run completely inefficiently. The TV's are super old so forget streaming or casting from your phone, and the shower could be better as well. However, for a ski bum kinda place it's perfect!

Second time here, love the cozy charm of the room and home feel. The building is old but very comfortable and quint. The breakfast place is great with a fire place and the most friendly guy serving it (however extremely basic food itself). Nice pool and hot tub area. The rooms don’t have conditioner or body lotion, which is surprising at >$200 a night. Considering the price, the overflow value for the price is not impressive, but the charm makes up for it.

My husband and I stayed two nights last week at Northern Lights Lodge and everything was perfect! The room was spacious with an old-style decorating scheme yet offering all the modern comforts we needed: excellent lighting and temperature control (both for heating and cooling when needed)as well as numerous outlets for computer, phone charging etc. The free breakfast was generous and delicious with a pleasant atmosphere in the breakfast room amongst the guests. The innkeepers, Mike and his wife, were especially solicitous of their guests' well-being, even working hard to seek out the guest who left a precious object in the breakfast room. Beyond this, there was a lovely brook flowing merrily along behind the hotel, with picnic tables and chairs nearby. And the price was reasonable! We are looking forward to returning.

Small room , outdated but clean . Breakfast isn’t the best . Few covered parking spots others are all open . Has decent indoor swimming pool . 10 min drive to spruce peak village which is good .worst part is no microwave in room . I have to go all the way to lobby to warm up milk , water any food etc . Old school key and lock on rooms so if you lose a key be ready to pay $25 for each lost key

My wife and I recently visited Stowe, Vermont and stayed a the Northern Lights Lodge and it was wonderful. The lodge is about 1.5 to 2 miles from the downtown Stowe area and that was perfect. We could easily walk there or take the walking path to see the colors in the trees. It's within a short distance to some of the best restaurants in the area and they serve a delicious breakfast in the morning. The owners/staff are very accommodating and even helped with directions and suggestions of things to do. We will definitely go back.

What a great find for our family’s ski vacation! We chose it for the location being 10 minutes away from Stowe and including breakfast. At $250 a night, this is very reasonable, especially considering the size of room and on site amenities. Our room had a king bed and bunk beds for our kids. A small dining table, microwave and fridge, couch and plenty of surfaces and space for ski gear. The indoor pool, hot tub and dry sauna were perfect after a day of skiing. They were well maintained and clean. It was cute to walk over the pool on a wooden bridge from our room to the dining area every morning where breakfast is served. Breakfast iis quite basic and unlimited to order: Scrambled eggs with or without sausage, cereal, sweetened yogurt and granola, small muffins and mini scones, instant oatmeal, apple or orange juice. Self served includes Oranges and mini apples, toast, coffee and tea. The gentlemen taking orders and making breakfast are all lovely. Interiors are quite dated, but still holds charm. Overall, great value for its proximity to Stowe. Definitely returning!

We stayed here for a few days of a ski/snowboard trip and we were quite happy with our time here! If I could rate 4.5 I would, only because the bath towels were rather small and thin- anyone with more hair might struggle. But that's pretty minor. A surprise convenience was the free mountain shuttle that stops at the lodge about every 30 mins on weekdays, 15 on weekends! (Opposite side of the road going to the mountain, drops off on return in the driveway. There is webpage that shows the shuttle live locations.) Hard to beat that, not having to deal with parking! The breakfast was hearty and delicious, and it was really nice having a mini fridge for our mountain lunch supplies. The beds were comfortable and the room didn't feel super tight. Thanks for a great stay!
